Shipping to Haiti: your questions, answered
The questions families ask most before they send a barrel, a box or a car to Haiti — answered in plain words, with links to fuller guides where they help.
How much does it cost to send a barrel to Haiti?
It depends on where you ship from and which company you use. On this site, published barrel prices include $67 from Miami with one large carrier, $189 to $265 with smaller companies, and 250 € from Paris for a 220-litre barrel. Customs charges and delivery inside Haiti come on top, so always ask for the full total before you pay. See our barrel cost guide for the full picture.
How are Haitian customs charges built?
Haitian customs charges are built from several documented charges added together: a 5% verification fee, a 10% TCA turnover tax, and a 2% CFGDCT contribution, plus duty on the goods themselves. Used vehicles also carry duties of 5–20% plus a 10% tourist tax. The exact bill depends on what you ship and how it is valued, and the port has the final word. Our customs guide explains each charge in plain words.
How much does it cost to ship a car to Haiti?
Reported prices for shipping a car from the United States to Haiti most often fall between $1,200 and $2,700 for the transport alone, depending on the port and whether the car travels alone or in a container. Customs, port fees and delivery in Haiti are extra. Get the transport price and the customs estimate in writing before you hand over the keys. See our car shipping guide.
What can't I ship to Haiti?
Do not pack weapons, ammunition, illegal drugs, or anything a company tells you it cannot legally carry. Medicines, chemicals, batteries and certain electronics also need extra care and paperwork. When in doubt, ask the company before you pack, not after the barrel is sealed. Our guide to what you cannot ship lists the main items.
Does USPS ship to Haiti? Does Amazon?
USPS lists Haiti for some international mail services, but delivery inside Haiti is limited and slow, and many senders use a private company instead for barrels and boxes. Amazon does not deliver most orders directly to homes in Haiti, which is why many people ship Amazon orders to a cargo company in Miami or New York first, then onward to Haiti. Our parcel guide covers the workable options.
How do I know a shipping company is real before I hand over my barrels?
A real company has a name you can find, a phone that answers, an address or drop-off point, and clear prices or a written quote. Visit in person when you can, ask people who have shipped with them, and never send the full amount by Zelle or cash app to a stranger who only exists on Facebook. Our guide on choosing a company walks through the checks step by step.
Where do the prices on this site come from?
Every price on this site is a price the company itself publishes on its own site, page or tariff. If a company does not publish prices, we say so plainly and show no price for them. Prices change, so confirm the price when you book.
Which port should I use — Port-au-Prince, Cap-Haïtien or Miragoâne?
Choose the port closest to the person receiving your shipment, when the company offers a choice. Port-au-Prince serves the capital and the centre, Cap-Haïtien is often better for the north, and Miragoâne is handy for the south. A shorter trip inside Haiti usually means lower delivery costs and less handling. See our port guide for help choosing.
I own a shipping company. How do I claim my listing?
Go to the claim page, find your company, and start the claim. We check that you are connected to the business, then you can update your prices, services and contact details for free. Claiming helps customers reach you at the right number.
Is it free to search and to be listed?
Yes. Searching this site is free, and being listed is free. No company can pay to move up, to hide another company, or to remove a truthful listing.
I ship to Haiti, but my company is not listed. Can I add it?
Yes. Go to the add your company page and fill in your company's details. We send a 6-digit code to your phone or email to check the company is yours. When the code matches, your listing goes live right away, and it is yours: you can update your prices, services and contact details whenever they change.
